Dreaming Butterfly - A Whimsy Women Spirit Doll

While my Art Dolls have always been created as members of my Wisdom Keeper Art Doll Collection, I have now created another family of them titled the "Whimsy Women Collection". 

The Whimsy Women Collection consists of  Spirit Dolls that are whimsical and soft free form. These dolls are Cloth with Painted Muslin Faces. 

One of the Whimsy Women from the 1st Edition of this collection is a Dreaming Butterfly titled "In Her Dreams".

The Butterfly Whimsy Woman was created with deep purple and periwinkle blue Batik, and an original painted muslin face.

This Original Purple Butterfly Cloth Folk Art Doll is an OOAK (original one of a kind) creation by Jeanne Fry titled "In Her Dreams". In this unique design her body was hand stitched from a beautifully deep purple and periwinkle blue batik fabric that boasts her head and torso. Her face was painted on a cut piece of muslin with acrylics and a fabric medium that will protect the painting for longevity. The muslin face was then attached to the body. A fun vibrant floral patterned fabric was used to create her pillow-like wings that are attached on each side of her and adorned with beads in the center. Using the same purple batik, two antennae were sewn and attached to the top of her head. Soft periwinkle blue cotton lace was used to swirl around her face, adorned with magenta buttons. That same blue cotton lace adorns the bottom of her body, again embellished with  magenta buttons. A turquoise ribbon loop with button was sewn at the back of her bead to give the option to display her as Wall Art if desired.

Tea and Healing Prayers with Persephone - Art Doll for the Big C

"Tea and Healing Prayers with Persephone" is a meaningful Spirit Doll that was created for the strong and beautiful Cancer Warrior who is battling the "Big C". A story card accompanies her that reads:

"Persephone was created for you, to be your companion, your secret friend, your Warrior Sister against the Big C. She was created in prayer and infused with love throughout each hand stitched moment. Her colors were chosen to bring Renewal and Vibrance. She was designed to hold comfortably, when you Pray, Meditate, when you're afraid or alone, and most especially when you take cherished moments for Tea. 

She knows that the medications can make you feel bad, and she is here to sit with you while you drink your tea to comfort your belly. She will help to remind you that "this too shall pass". 

Persephone whispers:  "Everything is going to be okay. You are loved and watched over, always. The hard moments will pass and softer gentler moments will replace them. Little Sister of the Abalone Turtle Women - Art Doll

Little Sister of the Abalone Turtle Women learns not only about the glory of being a Woman, but finds sage wisdom from the Turtle Women. This special clan of women offers support and guidance to one another, walking hand in hand through each of their spiritual journeys. 

Little Sister is learning to keep a balanced spirit, how to honor her emotions, but not let them completely dictate her decisions. She is recognizing the connection of head and heart, "feelings" and "knowing". She is on a path of living her life for her own highest good, and learns each day the importance of putting her needs first. 

The Abalone Turtle Women carry special wisdom learned from the Turtle - about the Feminine, Motherhood, Healing, and Growth. They carry Abalone as a reminder of emotional balance.

Dragonfly Folk Art Doll - Lady Dragonfly and the Winds of Change

She finally understood, after all this time, the best way to maneuver within the Winds of Change. In fact, she learned the difference between moving against them and moving within them. In the past when those winds would blow in, confronting her in the face and pushing her backwards, she would defiantly push back. She struggled with the winds, each time upset that they were shoving her away from her chosen path. Each time she would seemingly be further and further away from the destination.

One day when her defenses were down,and frankly she was just too tired for the fight, she allowed the winds to embrace her. She didn't struggle against them. She floated within the breeze, still in control of herself but now guided. 

She let go of her fears and trusted in the change of course, later finding that the destination was truly in a much better place than she could have imagined.
She learned that we do have a sense of control - in manifesting - where and what we want to be, but we don't always have control on how we get there. She now understands that believing in her self, and that she is a part of something bigger, can help pave the way so that the course is not as difficult as she might have surmised.

Mama Muse a Whimsical and Vibrant Spirit Doll to Inspire the Creative Soul

There are times as artists that we take ourselves TOO seriously. Sapphire of the Sea - A Mermaid with Heart

She was always told that one person can indeed make a difference, and that belief has fueled her throughout her life. Sensitive to things around her, she has never allowed herself to feel as if there is never any hope. Each day she makes a difference in her world, inspired by the simple belief that she is here for a reason. 

Sapphire, a thirty-something young mermaid, is one of the most beautiful mermaids of the Sea, not only in her outward features but even more so by her big heart. The first word often used to describe her is "kind", which is hugely underrated.

She spends her days quietly performing acts of kindness while sharing her smile and hugs. Over the last few months she has been helping her brothers and sisters in the sea, the turtles and the fish, who keep getting caught up in the fisherman's nets. Each morning, very early, she swims to where the fisherman leave their nets and carefully takes the whole net and swims back to her cove where she then helps release each one of them. Later she hides the net.

The fisherman have been getting frustrated that they keep losing not only their fish bounty but their entire nets each day, and are contemplating moving on to another area (while Sapphire quietly chuckles). The fish and the turtles are ever grateful to Sapphire for her kindness, and they themselves help their sea community to pay it forward.

Fearless - A Spirit Doll for Encouraging Bravery while Redesigning one's Life

Fear.

We all have it, that thing that holds us back from living the life we're meant to live. It feeds our Inner Critic all the things it can to make sure we don't try new things. If you let it, it will hold your Soul in a perpetual state of anxiety afraid of your own capabilities, other people, and even the world. 

It also can present itself in small almost unseen ways, quietly slipping in, and holding us just enough that it doesn't stop us from living life - but it will interfere by lowering our expectations of ourselves. It will whisper in our ears to only put ourselves out there...just a little bit...as if flying under the radar...trying to convince us that living "safe" is the answer. Of course, there is a difference in living safe and not fully putting your heart into something. If you only give fifty percent, you'll never receive the fullest potential. 

And then there comes the day, that miraculous and long awaited day, when your gentle Spirit screams inside....

"Let me OUT ! I want to Live ! I want to dance in the rain and sing on the mountain tops. I want to take my brush and paint everything I see, purple and red and orange and yellow. I want to DO the things that other people write about. I want to love without fear and laugh without limits.  I want to trust my own voice and see where it leads me. I want to live, FULLY live, this one Life that I have. 

And when the spirit has finished her plea, the glass wall of fear shatters into a bunch of meaningless, powerless shards that crumble into nothingness. And what is left....is a beautiful blank white canvas...waiting for You to start painting your new reality. 

This is a moment to celebrate,to honor like a new birth. And it is this moment that inspired my creation of the "Fearless" Spirit Doll, an honoring and a reminder of how you got here, why you're here, and to cheer lead Each Step Forward.

I have long been enchanted by the Art of the Venetian Carnival, Mardi Gras, Mask Making, the Colors, the Clothing, and the Culture. This love inspired a new Art Doll...aptly named "The Spirit of Mardi Gras". I wanted the art doll to portray that feel in a sophisticated yet subtle way.

Maia of the Seven Sisters a Celestial Wisdom Keeper Art Doll

Maia came to me in a dream, not just once... but many times. She had lots of stories to tell me, stories of her world and stories of her life. 

Maia is the eldest of the Seven Sisters, or the Pleiades. The Pleiades are an open cluster in the constellation of Taurus, comprised of approximately 500 stars and measures 12 light years in diameter. The Nine brightest starts of the Pleiades are named after the Seven Sisters and their parents, Atlas and Pleione. 

Maia spoke softly, like I would imagine how an angel would speak, and told me about her parents.. Her father's name was Atlas, a Titan, who's job was to hold up the Sky. Her mother was an Oceanid lovingly called Pleione. She was the Protectress of Sailing. One day Pleione and her daughters had a chance meeting with the well known hunter, Orion. Orion became obsessed, and soon the Seven Sisters and Pleione became the object of his pursuit. 

Day in and Day out, Orion pursued them all over the Earth. He pursued them until Zeus intervened. Zeus transformed the sisters and Pleione into doves and placed them in the heavens and it is here that they remain. 

Maia, being the oldest of the sisters, is the most nurturing. She loves to be a guide, shining as brightly as possible for all to see. She encourages travelers to have courage on their journey and to trust their instincts.  She whispers "Follow your own Star" softly, asking you to trust your star...the one that resides inside your heart. 

The next time you are looking up at the stars, see if you can find Maia. You will know when you see her, her star shine will let you know.

Grace on a Sacred Morning - A Folk Art Doll that Holds the Serenity

I have always been very particular about how I begin my mornings, knowing that for me it sets the tone for my day. I need them to be filled with ease. I am definitely not one of those people who are filled with energy, shower, exercise, and quickly begin on projects or run out the door into the world. I start me day slowly, almost pampering my every movement. I hate harsh overhead lights and avoid their offensiveness at all costs. I open my blinds at a slant and let the natural light spill its glow while I fix some tea and wind a wrap around my shoulders. I use this time to Listen, to sit on the porch and hear the breeze and the birds, to cuddle with fur-babies, and let my intuition guide me to where I will focus my energy. My mornings are slow, thoughtful, and sacred. 

While I can't always begin all of my mornings like this, I sure try to have the majority of them in this way. It's complete kindness to my body and soul.

I created "Grace" to be the expression of what a Sacred Morning feels like.

The Story of Khloe the Seahorse Keeper - a Beaded Mermaid Folk Art Doll

When Khloe was born she was appointed a very special job by the Mermaid Council. She was chosen to be a Seahorse Keeper, which is a very esteemed and sacred duty. The seahorses are regarded highly by the Mer People, as magical beings of peace and love. Because of their small and delicate nature, a group of Mermaids are assigned to watch over them, as Keepers, a nanny of sorts. The Seahorse Keepers form a loving bond, watching over the seahorses throughout their life, protecting and keeping them out of harm's way. 

Khloe is one of the favorite Keepers, loved by ALL of the seahorses, for she has such a sweet and compassionate soul. When she speaks her voice sounds like a bird song, and she carries a sense of light with her wherever she goes. You will never see Khloe without a few of the seahorses holding on to her tail, traveling along with her throughout the day like little hitchhikers. 

Khloe takes her job seriously, and those who know her know that the Seahorse clan comes first in her life. And all the young Mer Men she dates are quickly told that if they are going to fall in love with her that they must love and respect the Seahorse family as well.

When we reach that point in our lives when we don't care that the purple polka dots don't match the green stripes, and our choices are made by what feels good to our spirit, the sense of freedom is delicious. That is the time when we are living for ourselves, and not compromising to fit into the box that someone else has structured. 

Celebrating our own Uniqueness is one of the most important things we can do for our souls. No one wants to end up on their front porch when they're 80 and be resentful that they didn't live their lives on their own terms. And trust me, those years begin to fly by.

When we were younger we felt that "people pleasing" and being "likeable" was an attribute, only to find out later in life that it usually ends up being detrimental to our very Self.

Whenever you need to shake the blues or chase away the fears, "Happy Thoughts" brings a ray of sunshine to your spirit and helps to calm the soul. Sometimes we need that little reminder that we aren't alone in this big world. Our minds can get hyper focused on our fears, and soon those negative thoughts can run rampant. Left unchecked our fears can distract us so much that we miss the little miracles that surround us. 

"Happy Thoughts" was created as a simple little boost of positive energy, a wee cheerleader of sorts, reminding us we are loved, we are supported, and we can achieve our dreams.

Everything about this little one just brings a smile to the face.

She is a wonderful spirit doll to carry with you, keep in your tote bag, on your desk, in your car, or near your bedside as a reminder that Everything will be Okay.

Does anyone hear my wishes? Celeste Starburst the Wish Keeper does..

It has been so so very long since I have posted here on my Wisdom Keeper blog, and I must change that, for certainly I have been creating them continually. This week as I was sitting and doing a little prayer, I wondered....are my wishes being heard?

And, then came the creation of "Celeste Starburst", an itty bitty Wish Keeper.

Celeste was created to be your wish keeper. Tell her all of your wishes, big and small, and she will deliver them to the Universe. She reminds you that you deserve the best in life and to never give up on your dreams, for they are just a moment away.

We so often think of our goals and wishes within certain parameters of what we “think” would be possible. When we do that, we begin to put restrictions on our dreams. Our possibilities in life are bountiful, if we allow them to be.

Grandmother Honey Bee, Gertrude HoneyPot, a Whimsical Gourd Art Doll

Everyone has heard of and knows about the Queen Bee, but not that much has been said about her mother, Gertrude HoneyPot. Gertrude is Grandmother Honey Bee, and she is loved and cherished by ALL the Bee kingdom. She is much like your own loving thoughts of those grandmothers who bake cookies and spoil their grandchildren...for she is visited by the young ones every afternoon.

They hurriedly fly off to Grandmother's nook of the hive, anxious to visit with her and hear her stories. When they leave they are always filled with excitement because she instills in them that ANYTHING is possible if they put their minds to it. She explains to them how the humans say that the honey bees shouldn't even be able to fly because their wings are so small in relation to their bodies....but they CAN. 

Each evening when they return home they dream of all the things they would like to do and the places they would like to go. Grandmother keeps their spirits imaginative and builds their spirits bigger than the sky.
